Britt Man Dies in California; Rites in Britt

BRITT - Martin L. Friedow, 84, former Britt resident, died Monday at the home of his son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hesley, Compton, Calif. Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick, Britt. The Rev. Fr. Justin A. Kane will offer the Requiem Mass. The Rosary will be said at the Boughton Funeral Home preceding the church service Monday. Burial will be in St.Patrick's Cemetery.

Son of John and Anna Friedow, he was born July 2, 1874, in Germany. The family came to America in 1884 and to a farm southeast of Britt in 1888. He was married to Victoria A. Cardin at Garner. He was a member of the Farm Bureau in Hancock County and school director and trustee of Erin Township; a member of the board of directors of Commercial State Bank, Britt, and of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Lela) Gordon, Britt; Mrs. Harry (Hazel) Hesley, Compton, Calif,; Mrs. Frank (Vera) Munson, Scio, Ore.; two sons, Clarence, Compton, Calif.; Clifford, Big Bear, Calif; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
