Funeral Held For Second Corwith Youth
Funeral services for Ronald Fish, 18, Corwith, second victim of a tragic car truck crash seven miles north of Ft. Dodge Saturday, May 10, were held Saturday, May 17, in the auditorium of the high school at Corwith. Rev. Ronald Cowles, pastor of First Baptist Church, Corwith, and Rev. Paul Roder, Corpus Christi Church, Ft. Dodge, officiated.
Pallbearers were David and Danny Wagner, Joel Bartik, Ronald Bonnstetter, Dean Widen and Jack Betten.
Ronald died Tuesday, May 13, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Dodge,of multiple injuries suffered in the crash which claimed the life of Dean R. Sloter, 19, also of Corwith. Young Sloter died Saturday night and rites were held Wednesday. Fish was driver of an auto which collided with an anhydrous ammonia tank truck at 7:30 p.m., May 10. He never regained consciousness following the crash and underwent surgery, including removal of his right leg, prior to his death in the Ft. Dodge hospital.
Ronald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fish, was born August 14, 1950 at St. Ann Hospital, Algona. All of his schooling was at Corwith and he and Dean Sloter were both members of the 1968 graduating class at Corwith Wesley High School.
He attended college at Denison and recently enrolled in the Columbia Broadcasting School. He was married to Rebecca Clark March 14 this year and they were living at the Sunset Trailer Court at Ft. Dodge.
The two had visited friends at Corwith and were headed for Ft. Dodge when the crash occurred.
Ronald is survived by his wife; parents; three brothers, Albert in the U. S. Navy; Bryan and Brett at home; one sister, Carol (Mrs. Jack Niewald), Ft. Dodge; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Fett, LuVerne, and Vincent Fish, Wesley; and one great grandmother, Mrs Louise Fish, Wesley.
Burial was at the Corwith cemetery and Blake Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
