Funeral Services Are Held for Woman, 87, Who Was Born in Germany

GARNER, June 29 - Funeral services were held this afternoon for Mrs. J. L. Abele, 87, at the Methodist church, the Rev. William Gauger of Holstein, former pastor here, officiating. Marguerite Filbert was born in Germany in 1844. She came to America at the age of 26 and two years later was married to J. L. Abele who survives. Children living are Art, Albert, Louie, Mrs. John Griffin and Mrs. Richard Zald. Mr. and Mrs. Abele came here from Postville 50 years ago and bought land about five miles northwest on which they live.
