Last Rites at Garner for Longtime Farmer

Garner: Funeral services for Ferdinand Young, 83, Garfield township pioneer, were held here Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic church with the Rev. Father M. J. Manternach officiating. Interment was in St. Boniface cemetery with the Bohn funeral home in charge. Young died at Mercy hospital in Mason City Friday following a lingering illness.

Ferdinand Young, son of John and Barbara Young was born at Botenwald, Austria on April 28, 1867, and came with his parents to the Garner community 72 years ago. He has lived here continuously since.

He leaves 3 sons, Joseph, Verner and Rudolph, all living on farms west of Garner. His wife preceded him in death.
