W. J. McDermott dies at Britt; Rites Friday

BRITT: William J. McDermott, 81, a retired farmer, died Tuesday at Hancock Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health with leukemia the last two years.

Born Oct. 27, 1879, at Morris, Ill., he was the son of Michael and Anna Gilleran McDermott. Feb. 11, 1903, he was married to Ethel Ewing at Odell, Ill. They farmed south of Wesley four years then owned a farm southeast of Britt. He retired in 1945.

Surviving are his wife, several nephews and a niece, including Lillian and Edward McDermott, whom they reared.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church here. The Rev. Justin A. Kane will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery with Boughton Funeral Home in charge. The Rosary will be said at the Funeral home Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m.
