Robert C. Hartzell

KLEMME: Robert Clark Hartzell, 57, died Wednesday evening at Concord Manor Nursing Home in Garner after a lingering illness. He had been a patient there since September 1971.

Born Nov. 17, 1915 at Britt, he was the son of Benjamin S. and Hattie Clark Hartzell. He was married to Neva Kropp June 12, 1949.

He was an honorary member of the Booster Club of Klemme, the American Legion and VFW in Garner. From 1941 to 1945 he served in the U.S. Armed Forces in Europe and was commissioned a second lieutenant. He farmed west of Klemme until 1967 when he retired due to ill health.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Rickey Robert, a student at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls; and a daughter, Jody Lynn, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Art (Charlotte) Jass and Miss Grace Hartzell, both of Garner; two brothers, Ted and Dale, both of Dows.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth and twin brother and sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Klemme United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetey in Klemme. Visitation will be after Friday noon at Bohn Funeral Home in Garner.
