1912-1989Services for Jake Lolling, 77, who died Monday, May 29, 1989 at his home in Britt, were held Wednesday, May 31, 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Britt with Rev. Aubrey McGann officiating.
Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Dwight Anderson, and vocalist, Jay Burgardt. Ushers were Harry Peters and Howard Funnemark.
Casket bearers were Leonard Schwab, Bill Mattoon, Dale Nielsen, Gail Parker, Jim Devine and Leo Larsen.
Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with the Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Jake Lolling, the son of Henry and Tillie Greenfield Lolling, was born February 26, 1912 near Hutchins. He received his education in Orthel Township. In 1929 he moved with his family to the Wesley area.
December 29, 1935, he married Bessie Fox at Woden. In 1936 they moved to a farm north of Hutchins. He was a committee man for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service until retiring from farming in 1964 when they moved to Britt. He then worked for a building contractor and later for Winnebago Industries in Forest City for seven years.
Jake was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Britt.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie of Britt; two sons, Lanny and his wife, Lavonne of St. Paul, MN and Dennis and his wife, Loretta of Wapello; seven grandchildren, Gary, Keith and Daryl of St. Paul, MN, Jody Winslow and her husband, Ronald, Kristine Lanz and her husband, Robert, Rhonda and Chad all of Wapello.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Urban.
