Laid To Rest

Jennie Perthenia Kennedy was born at Seamond, Ohio, February 9, 1871, in a family of five children, two sisters and two brothers. She departed this life on December 3, 1945, at the age of 74 years, nine months and 24 days.

She grew to womanhood at her childhood home at Seamond, Ohio, where she met and wed Edward Preston Cook, on February 13, 1889. To this union two sons were born.

After marriage, she and her husband was engaged in farming at Seamond for several years. In 1901 they moved to Webster City, Iowa, where they lived until 1917, when they moved to their farm home one mile north of Kanawha, where they lived until 1936, at which time they retired and moved to their home in Kanawha. Her husband preceded her in death in 1941.

In her girlhood Mrs. Cook united with the church in Ohio. On coming to Webster City she united with the Congregational church and when coming to Kanawha she united with the Methodist church. Mrs. Cook was a faithful and devoted Christian and was always active in the various departments of the church.

She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a helpful neighbor who will be greatly missed by her many friends.

Mrs. Cook is survived by her two sons, Erith and Clarence, of Kanawha, four grandchildren and one great grandchild, also by two sisters, Mrs. Dora Frizell of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Bertha Ross of Mt. View, Mo., and one brother, Alvin Kennedy of Dayton, Ohio. One brother, Edgar, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Kanawha Thursday afternoon, Dec. 6, with Rev. J. F. Moore officiating. Interment was made in the Kanawha cemetery.
