KANAWHA - Gary D. Johnson, 16, died Wednesday (Oct. 17, 1979) at the Belmond hospital of leukemia. He had been hospitalized in Rochester, Minn., for 10 weeks.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Kanawha, with the Rev. Harlan Stenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha.

Visitation will be from 8 tonight until 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Carter Funeral Home, Kanawha, and at the church before the service.

He is survived by his father and mother, Alvin Jr. and Janice Johnson; four brothers, Doug, Blythedale, Mo., and Randy, Gilbert and Mike, all of Kanawha; one sister, Mrs. Doyce (Suzanne) Hiscocks, Britt; a niece and nephew.

Also surviving are maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hall, Kanawha, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Johnson, Kanawha, along with his great grandmother, Ellice Hall, Kanawha.

The family requests memorials to the Gary D. Johnson Memorial Fund for the Leukemia Foundation.
