For John Meinders

Services for John Meinders were held Saturday, November 11, 1978, at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme with Rev. James Laak as officiant. Mrs. Harley Nuehring was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Beier were the soloists for the song "Jesus is Calling." The congregation sang, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."

Pallbearers were: LaVurne Josten, Vernon Jurgemeyer, Herman Meyer, LeAllyn Josten, Richard Meinders and Lynn Lemke. Quesenberry Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.

John Meinders was born on September 27, 1889, at rural Alexander to Dirk and Worka Ackermann Meinders.

He was married to Lottie Riekens on January 29, 1913, and they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 1975. After their marriage they farmed in southern Hancock County. Later they moved east of Klemme and farmed there until retiring in 1946. They then moved to Klemme.

John was a member of the Immanuel Reformed Church of Christ and served as an elder.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife in 1975; two brothers; two sisters and two great grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Elmer Meinders of Clear Lake; five daughters, Virgie (Mrs. August) Josten of Klemme, Marie (Mrs. Erwin) Nuehring of Kanawha, Gladys (Mrs. Alfred) Jurgemeyer of Garner, Marjorie (Mrs. Laurice) Lemke of Garner and Mildred (Mrs. Duard) Lewis of St. John's, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
