John Steenlage

BRITT - Funeral services for John Steenlage, 55, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Britt. The Rev. Howard Eldrenkamp will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Britt. A prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday will be held at Boughton Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday.

The son of John and Emma Hauptley Steenlage, he was born at Corwith Feb. 23, 1918. He was graduated from Britt High School, was a veteran of World War II and was married to Evelyn Loy May 5, 1943, at Britt. He owned and operated the Hobnob Sport Shop in Britt, where he died of a heart attack Thursday morning.

He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. They will conduct military rites at the graveside.

Surviving are three sons, John R. (Bob) and Gerald, Redwood Falls, Minn.: Leslie W., Iowa City; two daughters, Nancy Jo and Cynthia, both of Britt; two grandsons, three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Viola) Holck and Mrs. Peter (Imogene) Zrostlik, both of Britt; Mrs. William (Phyllis) Peck, Mason City; and his mother, Mrs. Emma Edson, Garner.
