ABSTRACTED OBITUARY from Forest City Summit, Mar. 26, 1959
Mrs. John Osness, 59, died Sunday at her home east of Forest City.
Born June 21, 1899, the daughter of Hans Mathew and Jacobia Olene Pederson in Grant twp, of Cerro Gordo Co., IA. Graduated from Clear Lake high school and taught rural school in Ellington twp, near Garner. Married John Osness June 2, 1923.
Survivors include her husband, John; 4 sons, J. Virgil of Covina, Calif.; John Jr. of Madelia, Minn.; Rev. Russell of Milwaukee and Paul of Forest City; and 3 daughters, Mrs. William (Arlet) Vollers of Englewood, Calif,; Janice of Minneapolis and Barbara of Forest City; 4 brothers, Sever Pederson of Clear Lake; Ole Pederson of Clear Lake; Halvor Pederson of Milwaukee and Selmer Pederson of Fertile; 3 sisters Mrs. Harry (Andrea) Marshall of Topeka, Kans.; Mrs. Ben (Pearl) Olson of Forest City and Mrs. M. E. (Hazel) Anderson of DePere, Wis.
Preceded by her parents, and a son, Thelen, who was killed in military service.
Services at Immanuel Lutheran church with burial in Madison cemetery.

Mrs. John Osnes Funeral Services Held Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. John 0snes, 59, who died Sunday [22 Mar 1959] at her home east of Forest City, were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at Immanuel Lutheran church. Mrs. Osnes had been in ill health for several months.
The Rev. Owen Gangstead of Immanuel Lutheran church officiated and burial was in Madison cemetery. Olson Funeral home was in charge. Music was provided by Duane Opdahl of Emmons, Minn., and the Rev. Paul Mork with Mrs. Joseph Peterson as organist. Pallbearers were George Lund Jr., Norville Olson, Duane Pederson, Wesley Pederson, Stanley Pederson and Curtis Halverson, all nephews of Mrs. Osnes.
Mrs. Osnes was born June 21, 1899, the daughter of Hans Mathew and Jacobin Olene Pederson in Grant township of Cerro Gordo county. She graduated from Clear Lake high school and taught rural school in Ellington township near Garner.
She married John Osnes June 2, 1923, and for many years they lived in Ellington township. For the last 15 years, the Osnes' lived near Forest City.
Survivors include: her husband, John; four sons, J. Virgil of Covina, Calif., John Jr. of Madelia, Minn., the Rev. Russell of Milwaukee and Paul of Forest City, and three daughters, Mrs. William (Arlet) Vollers of Englewood, Calif., Janice of Minneapolis and Barbara of Forest City.
Also surviving are four brothers, Sever Pederson of Clear Lake, Ole Pederson of Clear Lake, Halvor Pederson of Milwaukee and Selmer Pederson of Fertile, and three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Andrea) Marshall of Topeka, Kans., Mrs. Ben (Pearl) Olson of Forest City and Mrs. M. E. (Hazel) Anderson of De Pere, Wis.
Mrs. Osnes was preceded in death by her parents and a son Thelen, who was killed in military service.
