Prominent Clear Lake Man is Fatally Injured

Albert Roenfantz, sixty two, a prominent Clear Lake citizen and director of the First National bank, was fatally injured Tuesday evening about seven o'clock northwest of Ventura, when his car collided with one driven by Perry Larson farmer near Clear Lake. Mr. Roenfanz received several severe cuts on the neck, a broken jaw, fractured skull and an injured back. He was formerly president of the First National bank.

Roenfranz Dies After Collision Near Ventura

He and Car, driven by Perry Larson Meet at Death Corner

Ventura, Aug. 19 - Albert Roenfranz 62, died at a local hospital at Mason City at 11 o'clock last night from injuries received when the automobile he was driving collided with a motor vehicle operated by Perry Larson at the Paulson corner two miles west and three miles north of Ventura earlier in the evening.

The Paulson intersection has been know for years as "death corner" and has been especially dangerous this summer because the tall corn has obstructed the view of motorists.

On Way Home

Mr. Roenfranz, who lives in Clear Lake, was on his way home after spending the day on the farm with his son, Walter. He was going south, while Larson, a youth of 17 years, was going east.

Mr. Larson suffered injuries on his head and shoulder, but was not in a serious condition. Both automobiles were crushed.

The impact of the collision and the screams of the two men were heard by Henry Hollatz, farmer living near the corner, who immediately called an ambulance.

Injured in Spine

Mr. Roenfranz died from injuries to his spine, his face and body were badly cut. He is survived by his wife, his son, Walter, and two daughters, Mrs. Boehnke, who lives near Ventura, and Alice, who lived at home.

Funeral services had not been completed early today, but the services will be held in the German Lutheran church, north of Ventura, of which the Roenfranz family were members. The body is at the Shannon Funeral home at Garner.

Mr. Roenfranz moved to Clear Lake about six years ago. He had been affiliated with the First National bank for a number of years, having served as president and was at present a director of the bank.

Funeral Services for Albert Roenfranz Held at Clear Lake Sunday

Clear Lake, Aug. 24 - Funeral services for Carl Friedrich Albert Roenfranz were held Sunday afternoon at his home at Clear Lake and at the German Lutheran church north of Ventura, of which he had been a member many years. The services were conducted by the Rev. C. A. Hinz of Mason City and the Rev. G. Koch of Galva.
