Angus McQuarrie Laid To Rest
Angus McQuarrie was born in Grey County, Ontario, Canada, March 1, 1864, and grew to manhood in Ontario.
His marriage to Elizabeth Dew, also a native of Canada, took place at Humboldt, Iowa, March 30, 1898. The couple lived at Gilmore City for a number of years, then came to Hancock county where they purchased a farm one half mile south and one and one half miles west of Hutchins. There they lived until retiring in 1929. They lived in Britt for a time and then moved to Hutchins to make their home.
On January 21, 1935, Mrs. McQuarrie died suddenly and unexpectedly in her home. After her death Mr. McQuarrie returned to Britt and for the past thirteen year has been cared for at the home of Mrs. Minnie Peterson.
Mr. McQuarrie suffered a stroke of apoplexy Sunday night and was taken to the Park Hospital at Mason City. Death came Friday morning, Feb. 15, at 10 o'clock. Deceased had reached the age of 87 years, 11 months and 11 days.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Osman Funeral Chapel and burial was made beside the grave of his wife in Concord Cemetery at Garner. The Rev. E. H. Johnson, pastor of the Congregational Church of Britt, was in charge of the last sad rites.
