BRITT — Bertha A. Foster, 79, of Britt, passed away Saturday (Aug. 4, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Memorial services for Bertha A. Foster will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt with Pastor Dave Wiersbe officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
Friends may greet the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the services at the Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt.
Bertha, the daughter of Jens and Camilla Christianson Jensen was born April 16, 1922, in Britt. She graduated from Britt High School in 1939, and then attended Britt Junior College.
Bertha was united in marriage with Robert Foster on Feb. 21, 1942. The couple resided in the Britt area until Robert was called to serve his country in 1943. Following his discharge from the Army, they moved to a farm near the Upper Flat Church north of Britt where Bertha has since resided.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Bertha is survived by four daughters, Judy Crockett, of Ankeny, Janet Johnson and her husband, Leonard, of Des Moines, Jeanne Martin and her husband, John, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Joan O'Connell and her husband, Harley, of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothea Weiland Erickson and her husband,Glenn of Clear Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, in 1998; one daughter, Jacqlyn; one great-grandson, John Robert Martin; and one infant brother, Nels.
The family requests any memorials be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
