Soldier Loses Life On Pacific

Pfc. Kort Delger Was in Service Two Years

Kanawha - Mr. and Mrs. Kort Delger received a telegram Tuesday from the war department advising them their son, Pfc. Kort Delger, Jr., had lost his life in the New Guinea area of the south Pacific.

Pvt. Delger had never been home on furlough since his entrance into military service more than 2 years ago. Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Henrietta.

Plan Memorial for Pvt. Delger

Services Will Be Held in Church at Kanawha

Kanawha - Memorial services will be held Thursday in the Kanawha Christian Reformed church for Pvt. Kort Delger, Jr., son of Mr.and Mrs. Kort Delger of this city.

Pvt. Delger of the Infantry lost his life in the New Guinea area recently, according to word from the war department. He entered the service Jan. 2, 1942, and received his training at Camp Roberts, Cal. He was sent to Australia later entering the New Guinea campaign.

An attack of malaria caused a long period of hospitalization in Australia, but later he returned to the fighting in New Guinea, where he met death.

He had never received a furlough after entering service nor had any of his folks seen him after he left this community.
