Blood Poison Causes Death

Frank Applegate, Once Hardware Man, Victim

Corwith - Frank Applegate, 65, a long time resident of the Corwith vicinity died Monday morning in a Mason City hospital.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be made in the Corwith cemetery.

Mr. Applelgate was born in Blackstone, Ill., July 14, 1878, coming with his parents to a farm west of Corwith as a young man. For years he was employed in lumber yards in north Iowa. For a number of years he was manager of the Corwith hardware store, retiring in 1930, to make his home with his brother, Irvie, where he lived until his death.

Death was caused by tetanus, coming from a small scratch, that had apparently healed. Mr. Applegate is survived by 3 brothers, Elmer, Ernst and Irvie.
