Hanson Rites to Be Friday
Double Funeral for Auto Crash VictimsGarner - Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Enlo P. Hanson will be held at the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. E. F. Broberg in charge. Burial will be on the family lot in Concord township cemetery. The bodies will lie in state at the Methodist church from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Hanson were killed instantly Tuesday afternoon at a rural intersection collision about 25 miles northwest of Worthington, Minn.
Born on Farm
Enlo Peck Hanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hanson, was born on a farm near Eagle Lake Sept. 14 1878. As a young man he lived on a farm in Erin township near where his son, Leon, now lives.
In 1901 he was married to Margaret Schroeder and they continued to reside on the farm until 1906 when Mr. Hanson entered his public career as county recorder of Hancock county. Mr. Hanson served in this capacity until 1911 when he again returned to a farm near Crystal Lake and later entered the bank in Crystal Lake as cashier.
In 1914 he returned to Garner having been elected county auditor in which office he served for the next 4 years when he was elected sheriff of Hancock county, which office he held for 16 years.
His was a record of a faithful public service and he was highly respected as a public official in the county and throughout the state. In later years he served with the State Tax Commission as an auditor in the inheritance tax department.
Married in 1901
Margaret Schroeder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schroeder, was born at Morrison, June 28, 1880, and lived in Britt vicinity for a time, later moving with her parents to Rushmore, Minn., where she remained until she was married to Mr. Hanson in 1901. Mrs. Hanson had a quiet unassuming nature which won for her the friendship of a multitude of people. She was a member of the Methodist church of Garner, as was her husband, and was active in the work of the Aid.
Survivors include the children: Leon C., living on a farm in Erin township; Lorraine Hawley, Pasadena, Cal.; Naomi Castle of Garner, and Enlo Peter of Seattle, Wash.
Mr. Hanson also leaves a brother, Chris, of Garner and 3 sisters, Mrs. John Morrell, Ceylon, Minn.; Mrs. C. D. Limberg, Reveille, S. Dak., Mrs. John Prull, Loveland, Colo.
Mrs. Hanson also leaves a sister, Mrs. Robert Ross, Rushmore, Minn.; 2 brothers, Fred Schroeder, Long Beach, Cal., and William Schroeder, Seattle, Wash. The couple also leaves 5 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Peter Juhl, Crystal Lake; Hancock county Sheriff, L. M. Brower; Forrest Reibsamen, Britt; Hancock county treasurer, Roy L. McMillin; Ben Reemtsma, Paul Elling, Carl O. Roe, Mayor C. E. Barnes, Dr. R. E. Ulrich and Hans Olson, all of Garner, and George McNeish and Oscar Johnson of Kanawha.
