Funeral Rites for E. W. [ M ] Wellemeyer, 71, Held at Garner

Garner, Feb. 27. - Funeral services were held in the Methodist church yesterday afternoon for Edward M. Wellemeyer, 71, his pastor the Rev. Marion Sunderlin officiating.

Mr. Wellemeyer was born at Wapello Nov. 16, 1860 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. Foster Bickel at Washington Monday. His boyhood days were spent in the farm home at Wapello. In 1876 he moved with his parents to Garner where he attended public school, completing his education here. At the age of 20 he joined the Methodist church. For the past 34 years he has been a member of the official board.

On June 27, 1887, he was married to Miss Amelia Haefner of Giard, taking her to a home which he had previously built west of Garner. To this union 2 children were born, Viola and Elmer. He later served the town of Garner as drayman. During the past few years he was engaged in such activities as his health would permit.

He leaves a wife, his daughter, Mrs. Bickel, his son, Elmer H. of St. Rose La.; two brothers, George L. of Humeston and Charles L. of Wichita, Kans.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Addicks of Warriegton, Mo.
