Hold Rites For John Ganseveld

Suicide Victim Buried at Britt

Nora Springs - The Rev. Robert Davies, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated at services Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the Sheckler funeral home for John Ganseveld, 33, who committed suicide about 12:30 o'clock Saturday morning, Jan. 30 by shooting himself. Burial was in the Britt cemetery.

John and his two brothers, Peter and Stafford, have been operating their widowed mother's 320 acre farm four miles north of Nora Springs for the past three years.

He was born in Hancock county in Sept. 12, 1909, and had lived at various times at Britt, Forest City, Dumont and Nora Springs. The survivors are his mother, Mrs. Fannie Ganseveld; six brothers, Peter and Stafford at home, Dan at Britt, Bill at Garner, George at Madison, Minn., and Klaus, in the army at Fort Sam Houston, Texas; and five sisters, Jennie and Nancy at home, Mrs. Grace Wessel at Huboldt, Mrs. Darius Smidt at Plymouth, and Mrs. Oscar Olson at Britt. His father, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
