William Ward Of Britt Dies

Funeral for Aged Resident to Be Held Saturday at Church

Britt, Nov. 10 - William Ward, 87, died yesterday, Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church.

Mr. Ward was born in Airdrie, Scotland, Sept. 7, 1846. He was the oldest of 11 children. He came to America at 24. One year later he was married to Miss Florence H. Boutillier at Mount Carmel, Pa.

To this union nine children were born, seven of whom survive. One son died in infancy and one son, James M. Ward died in France while serving in the World War.

The family came to Malcolm, Iowa, in 1875, in March, 1882 moving to Hancock county, making the trip in a covered wagon.

The family lived on a number of farms in Hancock county and finally bought a farm at Eagle Lake, which is now owned by James Rezabek. In 1912, the Wards moved to Turner, Oregon. In 1913, they returned to Britt where they since made their home.

Mr. Ward is survived by his widow and seven children, Mrs. A. J. Schaper and Mrs. Frank Fillenwarth of Britt, Charles B. Ward of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Herbert Redman of Chateau, Mo., Mrs. David Schultz of Sebastopol, Cal., Henry Ward of Klemme and William Ward, Jr., at home, 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ward is one of the four Gold Star mothers in Britt.
