Services for Smith to Be Held Tuesday

Garner - Funeral services for Frank Smith, 71, prominent Concord township farmer, will be held at the Bohn funeral home here Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dallas J. Gibson, pastor of the United Presbyterian church in charge of the services. Interment will be in the Concord Township cemetery. Smith suffered a heart attack early Saturday and was rushed to a Mason City hospital where he died early the same evening.

He was the son of Jacob and Kate Smith and was born at Freeport, Ill., on Nov. 22, 1877. On March 26, 1902 he was married to Kathryn Elizabeth McClain at Freeport. After farming for 5 years in Illinois the couple moved to the Garner community where they have resided since 1907.

Surviving are his wife, one son, Lester W. Smith of Des Moines; 2 daughters, Mrs. Orville Maben of Garner and Mrs. John E. Gray of Sacramento, Cal.; 7 grandchildren, 3 brothers, Charles E. Smith of Garner, Harry E. Smith of Portland, Ore., and Jacob Smith of Freeport, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Emily Allen of Freeport, Ill., and one half-sister, Mrs. Pearl Stoner, also of Freeport, Ill.
