Mrs. John R. Smith passes At Woden Buried In Bingham

Woden: Mrs. John R. Smith died at her home in Woden last Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 17, following a lingering illness, at the age of 78 years. She had been in ill health for a number of years and her condition gradually became worse the past few months.

Mrs. Smith was born at Oldeslohe, Germany, in 1872 and came to America when a young girl. She was married to John R. Smith in 1894 and lived on a farm near Woden until 1920 when they moved to Woden. Her husband preceded her in death in December, 1949.

Surviving are five sons: Claus, Hans, Fred, and Martin all of Woden and Jack of Renton, Washington. One son Ralph died in World War I and a daughter Maggie (Mrs. John Rudisill) died in 1931.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at St. Johns Lutheran church with the pastor Rev. H. Beyer officiating.

Burial was in Bingham Township cemetery.
