John W. Haefner rites at Klemme

Funeral services for John W. Haefner, 86, Klemme, were conducted Firday afternoon, Feb. 17. at the Methodist church in Klemme. The Rev. J. E. Albertson officiated.

Burial was made in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, with the Johnston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Arlin Olsen, Merlin Helps, John Pannhoff, Kermit Koerner, Henry Kaduce and Ray Michelson.

Mr. Haefner died February 15, at Concord Manor Nursing Home in Garner.

He was born May 30, 1880, at Eldora, the son of Gottleib and Elizabeth (Mann) Haefner. As a minister's son he lived in various communities. When he was 16 years old the family moved to Klemme. On March 5, 1903, he was married to Alice Schuldt. They farmed in Liberty Township until moving to Klemme in 1940.

Mr. Haefner was an active member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife, Alice; three sons, Wilbur of Klemme; Rufus of Edgerton, Wisconsin, and Paul of Aurora, Ill. Eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a step brother and a son, Burnette.

JOHN WESLEY HAEFNER

Mr. Haefner was born May 30, 1880 at Eldora, Iowa, the son of Gottleib and Elizabeth (Mann) Haefner. As a minister's son he lived in various communities. When he was 16 years old the family moved to Klemme and later he attended college in Charles City.

On March 5, 1903, he was married to Alice Schuldt. They farmed in Liberty Twp. until they moved to Klemme in 1940. In 1953 they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Mr. Haefner was an active member of the Liberty Methodist Church and later transferred his membership to the Klemme Methodist Church.

He suffered a stroke on January 21 from which he did not recover and died on Wednesday, February 15 at Concord Manor.

Surviving are his wife: Alice

Three Sons:

Wilbur of Klemme

Rufus, Edgerton, Wisconsin

Paul, Aurora, Illinois

Also surviving are:

8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, a step brother and a son, Burnette.
