BARBARA J. TOMPKINS

GARNER - Barbara J. Tompkins, 42, of Garner, passed away Sunday (March 19, 2000) at the Concord Care Center.

Private family services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Kay Hooper of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St. in Garner.

Barbara Jane Tompkins, the daughter of Dean and Betty (Johnson) Tompkins, was born Oct. 3, 1957, at Britt. Barb was one of the unfortunate who developed a brain tumor at the age of nine months. Her life had been a battle with the effects of it ever since. For many years, our hearts have ached for a better life for her. She is now in that better place. No more pain or suffering. We loved Barb dearly and she will be greatly missed by all of us.

She is survived by her parents, Dean and Betty Tompkins, of Garner; two brothers, Allen Tompkins and his wife, Marian and their children, Sarah and Zachary, of Clear Lake and Larry Tompkins and his wife, Sandi, of Urbandale; and her sister, Beth Stearns and her son, Gabriel, of Garner. Rest in peace, Barbie!
