Services held for Elsie D. Pannkuk
Funeral services for Elsie Pannkuk, 80, of Klemme, who died Wednesday evening, April 5, at the Concord Manor Nursing Home in Garner, were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Klemme. The Rev. George Brighton officiated and burial was in the Amsterdam Cemetery at Kanawha. The William-Andrew Funeral Home of Klemme was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Pannkuk was born February 11, 1892, in Sidell, Illinois, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Hess) Steward. Soon after her birth the family came to Williams, Iowa, and then to Lakota, Iowa, where she received her education and grow to adulthood.
On December 10, 1912, she was united in marriage to Anton B. Pannkuk in Alden, Iowa. The couple lived in various areas until 1941 when they came to Kanawha and remained for 17 years. In 1961 they moved to Belmond and then in 1961 to Klemme where they remained until 1971 when she entered the Concord Manor Nursing Home in Garner.
Mrs.Pannkuk was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Belmond, the American Legion Auxiliary in Klemme and held several offices in both organizations both locally and on the county level. She was also a former member of the Rebekahs in Kanawha.
Survivors include her husband: four children; Zelda (Mrs. Harm Boeckholt) of Belmond; Edward of Rochester, Washington; Helena (Mrs. Clarence Boelman) of Clear Lake; and Henry of Protem, Missouri; 19 grandchildren, 29, great grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and five brothers.
