Mrs. Sena (Jeremiassen) Mickelsen was born on August 24, 1869, in Denmark, and died on February 19, 1919. She came to America In the early nineties and spent a few years in Marinette and Oconto, Wis., then came to Iowa in 1895, where she met John Mickelson to whom she was united in marriage on June 4th, 1895. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, one daughter who died in infancy, one daughter Anna Marie, who died when she was 6 months old, and one son, Theodore, who now is left alone to mourn the loss of one of the most loving and devoted mothers that ever lived. Mr. Mickelson, the father having died over four years ago.
Mrs. Mickelson was a woman of more than ordinary Christian devotion. A life of almost unceasing suffering for many years, yet we never found her faith toward God waver. It was steadfast and strong to the last. A most devoted worker in her own church to the limit of her strength, and a lover of all God's people. She was secretary of the Ladies Aid Society of the Scandinavian Congregational church from the time of its organization 15 years ago to the end of her life. She will be missed among her friends not only in her own church but by all who learned to know her, for everyone loved and respected her as a true Christian.
The sympathies of the church and community go out to the boy who now must seek his way through a dangerous, yet we trust, friendly world without the guiding council of mother; though he never will forget the council and payers of that mother heart that never will utter itself to him again in this world. May God guide his steps and blessings attend the memory of his mother.
Her entire age was 51 years, 6 months and 24 days.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday afternoon at the Scandinavian Congregational church, Rev. Andrerson being assisted in the services by Rev. WinterStein of the M.E. church where Theodore has his church membership. Interment was made at Evergreen cemetery where the dust of the other members of the family rest, who have gone before.
