Esther Schlawin

KLEMME — Esther (Buseman) Schlawin, 86, died Monday (Jan. 3, 2000) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme, with the Rev. Mona Burns officiating. Interment will take place in Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m, today at Tenold Funeral Home, Klemme, and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church Wednesday.

Esther (Buseman) Schlawin, the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Roths) Buseman, was born on Nov. 2, 1913, in Klemme. She was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Klemme and she attended the Twin Lake Country School, rural Klemme.

On Jan. 6, 1937, she was united in marriage to Arthur Schlawin at the Evangelical Reformed Church parsonage in Klemme. The couple farmed in the rural Klemme, Garner and Goodell areas until Arthur died on April 22, 1966.

Esther moved to Klemme a few years after Arthur's death. She was a member of the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme, Dorcas Circle, and the Klemme Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with her cats, gardening and quilting.

She is survived by a sister, Leona Priebe, Klemme; a brother, Franklyn Baseman, Garner, a sister-in-law, Betty Buseman, Clear Lake; and six nieces, Luella Bonner and her husband, Jim, Clear Lake, Lucille Gaffney and her husband, Dick, Swaledale, Miriam Jaberg and her husband, Gene, Fridley, Minn., Lynette Nuehring and her husband, Harley, Kanawha, Sherri Williams and her husband, Jack, Waukee, and LaVonne Badker and her husband, Wayne, Clear Lake.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; and a brother, Francis Buseman.
