R. A. Schlawin Services held

Funeral services for Reinhold August Schlawin, 71, were held Monday, Feb. 2, at the Bohn Funeral Home at 1.30 p.m and at the Peace Reformed church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Chester Ploeger officiated, using Psalm 16: 9-11 as his text.

Comfort in music "Jesus Savior Pilot Me" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", was sung by Mrs Chester Ploeger, Mrs Vincent Woiwood, Calvin Bredlow, and Vincent Woiwood.

Interment was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Werner Schlawin, Norman Swanson, Leon Lemke, Paul Goll, Roger Schlawin, and Carroll Etchen.

Reinhold August Schlawin was born March 13, 1887, in Bekel Pommer, Germany, the son of August and Caroline (nee Runhow) Schlawin.

In May, 1890, at the age of three years, he came with his parents, brothers, and sisters to the United States and settled in Garner. On April 5, 1901, he was confirmed in the Peace Reformed church by the Rev. J. Gaterman.

Reinhold Schlawin and Esther Minnie Greiman were united in marriage on July 4, 1912, at the Presbyterian church. Mason City, by the Rev. Redfield.

After their marriage, he and his wife settled on a farm in Twin Lake township, where they lived for eleven years. They then moved to a farm in Liberty township where they lived for fourteen years and then moved to a farm in Madison township where they lived for nineteen years. This marriage was blessed with four sons. In December, 1966, they moved to Garner. Where he resided at the time of his death.

Following a lingering illness, Reinhold Schlawin passed away at his home on January 30, 1959, having reached the age of 71 years, 10 months, and 17 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Surviving are his wife, four sons, Kenneth, Wayne, and Glen all of Garner: Virgil, Freeman, S, D.. seven grandchildren and a sister. Mrs Lewis Griffen, Klemme, and a host of relatives and friends.
