Funeral services held Monday for Harry V. Peterson, 71
A lifelong resident of the Forest City area Harry Victor Peterson, died Friday [5 Mar 1971] at Forest City municipal hospital following a short illness. He was 71 years old.
He was born July 20, 1899, in Mt. Valley township at the farm home of his parents, Andrew and Mary Reierson Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Winnebago Lutheran church where he was a lifelong member.
He married Minnie Gudmonson Dec. 22, 1920, at Winnebago church. They farmed in Madison township until he retired in 1954 when they moved to Forest City. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.
Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, a son, Harold Peterson of Forest City; six daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Virginia) Beaman of Norwalk, Calif.; Mrs. Maxine Moen of Forest City, Mrs. Lawun (Shirley) Henry of Crystal Lake, Minn., Mrs. Leon (Norma) Krautkremer of Mankato, Mrs. Verne (Delores) Hejlik of Garner and Mrs.
Harley (Doris) Harms of Buffalo Center; a brother, Melvin, and a sister, Lillina Tobiason, both of Forest City; 29 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, a sister and four grandchildren.Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. Harold Reitz and the Rev. Owen Gangstead officiating. Mrs. Marlin D. Olson was soloist.
Casket bearers were Vernon Gudmonson, Harvey Rollefson, Roger Rollefson, Ernest Peterson, Forrest Peterson and Vern Peterson. Burial was in Madison township cemetery with the Olson funeral home in charge of arrangements.
