George Peterson rites to be Thursday
Funeral services for George L. Peterson of Forest City will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. this Thursday at the Petersen Funeral home in Forest City. The Rev. John Hieronymus, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran church, will officiate.
Mrs. Marlin D. Olson will be soloist accompanied by Mrs. Joseph Peterson, organist. Casket bearers will be Juel Boman, Robert Hansen, Carl Schultz, James Smith, Henry Riekena and Dale Charlson. Burial will be in Madison township cemetery.
Mr. Peterson, 90, died Tuesday [Mar 1980] at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City. George L. Peterson, the son of Peter and Mathilde Kaernvir Olson, was born Sept. 7, 1889, at Trondhjem, Norway. As a young man, he emigrated to the United States and came to Forest City where he worked in the Peterson Brothers Shoe Store or several years. On March 22, 11914, he married Ingeborg Kvamsdal at Forest City. Peterson worked for the Gjellefald Construction Company in Forest
City until his retirement in the early 60's.He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Forest City.
Survivors include his children, C. Melvin Peterson of Garden Grove, Calif., Mrs. Helen Lyng of Hampton, Mrs. Lillian Ackers of Faribault, Minn., and George J. Peterson of Clear Lake; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister in Norway.
He was preceded in death by his wife who died April 27, 1977, three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Davis, Edith Peterson and Mrs. Evelyn Horstmann, his parents, a sister and four brothers.
