GARNER — Services for Sterling Larson, 76, of Garner, who died Sunday (Sept. 10, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City, will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Peace Reformed Church, south of Garner, with the Rev. Robert E. Grossmann officiating. Burial will be in Peace Reformed Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.
Sterling Keith Larson, the son of Andrew O. and Elizabeth Mary (Knudson) was born June 10, 1919, at Jewell.
After graduating from Randall High School in 1937, he worked with his uncle in the Chevrolet Garage in Jewell.
Sterling served his country in the United States Army in the South Pacific Theater from 1942-45. After the service, he returned to Jewell.
On June 15, 1953, he married Judith Marie Haberkamp at the Peace Reformed Church south of Garner. They lived in Alden for one year and then moved to Garner where they farmed until 1984, when they moved into town.
He was a member of Peace Reformed Church where he had served as a Deacon and usher. He belonged to the American Legion, Garner Rotary Club, Farm Bureau and had served on the board of directors for both the Farmer's Cooperative Society and Prairie View Apartments.
He is survived by his daughter, Joan L. Skolas and her husband, John, of Landenberg, Pa.; his son, Kimm S. Larson and his wife, Kathy, of Garner; his beloved granddaughter, Kristi Rae Larson, the "sunshine" of his life; and a brother, Stanley Larson and his wife, Erma, of Jewell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Larson, Jan. 28, 1995. and his parents.
