Former Forest Citian died at Mankato
Former Forest Citian, Byron D. Green of Mankato, died unexpectedly Sunday morning [2 Nov 1980] at his home on Lake Jefferson near Mankato. He was 56 years old.
He had moved from Forest City to Mankato in 1958. He worked for a time for an electric company and joined the Mankato police department in 1961.
Mr. Green was born in Forest City Nov. 28, 1924, the son of Archie and Myrtle Gettis Green. He attended the Forest City schools and Waldorf college.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a charter member of Christ The King Lutheran church in Mankato and of the Mankato American Legion post.
His wife is the former Ruth Heller of Forest City.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Eldon (Jeanette) Adams of St. Peter, Minn., and Cheryl Green of Patrick Air Force base, Florida; his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Green of Forest City; a brother, Ray Green of Torrance, Calif., and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 in Christ The King Lutheran church in Mankato with the Rev. Edward Swenson officiating. Burial was in Madison township cemetery just south of Forests City.
