Memorial services for Ada L. (Wille) Rockow of McMinnville will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church in McMinnville. Interment will be conducted at the Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum in McMinnville.

Ada died at home on January 25, 2010. She was 91.

Born in Klemme, Iowa, on September 4, 1918, she was the daughter of Cornelius and Marie (Thieman) Wille. She married Vernard Rockow on October 15, 1939, in Nashua, Iowa. She received a clerical degree that same year.

The couple settled in Almena, Wisconsin., where she worked for the School District and on the family farm. They relocated to Salem in 1964, working first for the School District, then she took a job with the State of Oregon Department of Revenue. She retired in 1985. The couple moved to McMinnville in 1987.

Ada and Vern enjoyed traveling, and spent a great deal of time at a property they owned in Lincoln city. She was an amazing cook and baker. When entering her home you were greeted with the aroma of either roast beef or snicker- doodle cookies. She made the family's Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners into her late eighties, and after that it was still hard to keep her out of the kitchen! She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends at the McMinnville Manor clubhouse and was an avid Blazers fan. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, Jerry (Betty) Rockow of Bend; a daughter, Gloria Carmody of Portland; granddaughters Barbara (Jeff) Rockow-Hanes of McMinnville; Christine (Wes) Fisher of Bend and Leslie (Jon) Ryan of Prineville; great-grandsons, Alex Fisher and Jackson Hanes; great-granddaughter, Megan Hanes; brothers, Ray Wille, Hampton, IA; Glen Wille, Garner, IA; Darwin Wille, Golden, Co; sisters, Ruby Blanchet, Garner, IA; Adala Bailey, Britt, IA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; a brother, Aaron Wille; a sister, Norma Rockow, and son in-law, Dennis Carmody.
