Thiemann on April 14, 1937, in her parent's home at Thompson, Iowa. They took up residence on the Thiemann farm near Klemme, where they farmed for 40 years. The farm just recently was designated as a Century Farm. While living there she was active at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, where she served in the women’s ministry and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was named
a Master Farm Home Maker in 1969 and was a member of the Hancock County Historical Society, the ODO Homemaker's Club and a 4H Leader. She and Edwin
retired to Clear Lake in 1977, where she was an active member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Garden Club and Crescent Club.

Lillian especially enjoyed writing and was an inspiration to many as she wrote on topics such as heritage, growing up on the farm and her faith. She enjoyed cooking and baking and always wanted to have something on hand for the visitors she loved to have stop by for a brief or extended visit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; son, Larry Thiemann; and three brothers, Leo, Percy and Donald Brown.
