Obituary

The sudden and unexpected departure of Mrs. Irving Haupt, nee Edith Haupt, is sincerely
regretted and sorrowfully mourned by her family, loved ones and friends.

Mrs. Haupt or Edith as she was affectionately known was the daughter of Mr. Fred Haupt and
Henrietta nee Priebe Haupt. She was born on November 16, 1902. As an infant she was received
into the Christian Church through the sacrament of Holy Baptism administered by the Rev. A.
Muehlmeier, Pastor of Immanuel Reformed Church of Klemme.

As a youth Mrs. Haupt attended the public schools of Klemme and later graduated from the
Garner High School. She received advanced education and preparation as a teacher by
attending the summer sessions of Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

She was received into the fellowship of the church through the rite of Christian
Confirmation by the Rev. William Thiel, at Immanuel Church of Klemme. She was confirmed on
Good Friday, April 6, 1917.

On August 2, 1931, Miss Edith Haupt was united in Holy Marriage with Mr. Irving Haupt by the
Rev. Mr. Kriete of Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Haupt made their home on a farm south
of Kanawha where they lived for a period of ten years and more recently have made their home
in the vicinity of Klemme.

Mrs. Haupt was a very active and devoted member of Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church
of Klemme. She served as a faithful teacher in the Sunday School, as church organist for a
period of approximately ten years, as president of the Women's Guild, and last year was a
teacher for the five week Daily Vacation Bible School. During the last year and a half she
also served as a 4-H leader.

Mrs. Haupt had many and varied interests. She had an unusual interest in Bible History. This
was manifest in the form of a Biblical History scrapbook. She was also a lover of beautiful
flowers and poetry. She demonstrated an unselfish concern and regard for the aged and needy.
Mrs. Haupt suffered a stroke and was called to her eternal home on Friday, January 8, at
10:30 P. M. at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, having attained the age of 51 years, l month
and 21 days.

Those who survive are her husband, Mr. Irving Haupt, one sister, Mrs. Bertha Schlei. two
nephews, Mr. Dale Schlei of Klemme and Mr. Paul Schuldt of New York City, and one niece,
Mrs. T. Dunmire nee Mable Schuldt of Titonka, Iowa. She is also survived by other more
distant relatives and dear friends.

Mrs. Haupt was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haupt, and by one sister.
Emile, commonly known as Mamie, Mrs. Herman Schuldt, and by one brother, Frederick, who
died as a child.
