The second death reported is that of Mrs. Helen Elta (sic) Johnson, who died at St. Joseph's Mercy hospital at Mason City, May 17, 1945, aged 26 years, 8 months, 27 days. She had submitted to surgery shortly before her death and was thought to be making satisfactory recovery when she suffered a fatal heart attack.
Surviving her, are her husband, Homer Johnson, whom she married at Garner on June 16, 1936; one son, Robert Leland Johnson; her father, Rollin L. Oliver, of Des Moines; a brother, Thomas R. Oliver, at Swaledale, Iowa; and four sisters, Mrs. John Fank of Thornton, Iowa, Mary Devine of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Lyle Aekley, of Davenport, Iowa; and Mrs. Edward baker, of Austin, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held at the Boughton Funeral Home, Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Herbert G. Kelly, officiating. Burial was made at Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.
The late home of the Johnson family had been at the Clifford Schaper farm two miles east of town.
Relatives from a distance in attendance at the last sad rites included Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Oliver, of Des Moines; Mrs. Lyle Aekley, of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Baker, of Austin, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Oliver and Mrs. June Bumgardner, of Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. John Fank, Jr., of Thornton; also Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baker, Mrs. Anne Thistlewaite, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Butts, all of Austin, Minnesota.
Among the host of friends present were Mrs. Cleo Lemon, of Des Moines; Mrs. and Mrs. John Fank, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Slagle, of Iowa Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Wedeking and family, of Clear Lake.
