TENOLD FUNERAL HOMESAlice Mathilda Hummel was born on Sunday, February 24, 1907 near Kanawha, IA to John and Taalena (Anderson) Johnson. She was raised and educated in the Kanawha area. At an early age she was baptized and later confirmed in the Christian faith in the Kanawha Lutheran church by Rev. P. B. Trelsted.
On December 19, 1928 she was united in marriage to Hugh Hummel of Klemme. IA. They farmed west of Klemme until they moved to Klemme in 1959. Alice did babysitting for several children, enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She enjoyed company and baking for her family and friends. Alice died at her home in Klemme on Wednesday, October 30, 1996.
Alice is survived by her sons, Leland and his wife, Beulah, of Klemme, IA, Ronald and his wife, Beverly, of Ankeny, IA, and Gary and his wife, Ann, of Indianapolis, IN; daughter Lois Finlayson and her husband, Jon, of Mason City, IA; a special niece, Marie Perkins of Mason City, IA; grandchildren, Diane Stadtlander and her husband, Curtis, Joleen Chiodo and her husband, Ben, Shelley Vining and her husband, Dan, Renae Verduyn and her husband, Brian. Jill MacEachern and her husband, Brian, Kristin Shafer and her fiance, Michael Brass, and Kaitlyn Hummel; great grandchildren, Holly and Andy Stadtlander, Matthew Seifert and Kaci and Nicole Shafer; sisters, Esther Hess of Klemme, IA and Ruth Nuehring of Mason City, IA and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh; 2 sisters, Edith Caroline Johnson and Nora Johnson Perkins and 4 brothers, Bert Johnson, John Johnson, Alfred Johnson and Carl Johnson.
