BRITT — Carrie L. Schaefer, 77, passed away Saturday (Aug. 28, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Britt with the Rev. James A. Mattson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Britt.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Home, Britt, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Carrie Lena Schaefer, the daughter of John and Sena (Smidt) Sweers, was born Dec. 24, 1921, on the family farm in Boone Township, southwest of, Britt. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She attended the rural schools of Boone Township. On Dec. 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Clarence Henry Schaefer at the First Lutheran Church in Britt. They farmed the Schaefer home farm until 1979, when they moved to an acreage west of Britt. In June of 1992, they moved to 330 Center St. W. in Britt. After Clarence passed away in 1993, she continued to live in her own home. She enjoyed her family, friends, gardening and farming in general.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church and WELCA.
She is survived by her six children, Robert Schaefer and his wife, Marlys, of Britt, and their four children, Heather, Stacey, Justin and Amy, Richard Schaefer and his wife, Ladonna, of Wesley, and their three children, Amber Siever and her husband, Brian, Brennon and Nathan, Dorothy Schaefer of Britt, Dennis Schaefer and his wife, Nancy, of Garner, and their two children, David and Kristina, Dean Schaefer of Britt and his daughter, Tara Jo, and Diane Falada and her husband, Paul, of Clear Lake, and their two sons, Nolan and Brandon; two sisters, Lucille DeWaard of Corwith, and Janet Moldenhauer and her' husband, Clint, of Forest City; three brothers, Ben Sweers and his wife, Mary Rose, of Britt, Elmer Sweers and his wife, Francine, of Britt, and Herman Sweers and his wife, Sally, of Britt; three sisters-in-law, Joan Sweers of Britt, Margaret Sweers of Woden, and Alene Schaefer of Rockwell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on Feb. 26, 1993; parents; two brothers,Jake Sweers and Louie Sweers; and a brother-in-law, Adrian DeWaard.
