Obituary

EVALYNE STILLE was born April 4, 1904 on a farm near Garner, Iowa, the eldest of a family of six children born to her parents John Carothers and Bertha Schleusner Carothers.

She attended the rural school nearby and when the family moved to Garner she continued there and graduated from the high school.

She taught in the rural schools of Hancock and Kossuth counties for a few years before her marriage, and since the last war, because of the shortage of teachers, she again took up teaching and at the time of her passing was teaching in Twin Lake, District No. 1. It was said of her that the longer she taught, the more successful she became in her work.

On March 21, 1925, at the age of 21, Evalyne Carothers and Quentin Stille were married and commenced housekeeping on a farm in Liberty township. Five years later they moved to Klemme where the family still lives.

They became the parents of four children: Glen Allen, who died in 1930, age 4; and Harlan, Shirley and Larry, who survive.

Evalyne Stille had a hobby of painting in oil. She had a natural talent for this work and completed many canvases, including some originals.
She was a member of the Klemme Methodist Church.
On Good Friday she became ill at school and came home and went to 'bed for a week when she was taken to a hospital. The end came Saturday morning, April 22, 1950 and she reached the age of 46 years and 18 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Quentin Stille, and her children: Harlan and wife Rose Ann of Mason City, Shirley and husband Milton Garfin of Ma son City and Larry at home; also her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Carothers of Garner; three sisters, Blanche, Mrs. Willard Tyler, Mason City, Golda, Mrs. Gilbert Jones, Klemme, and Joyce, Mrs. Ernest Sheetz, Ventura, and two brothers, Morris Carothers, Bellflower, Cal., and Wayne Carothers, Garner.

She also leaves a roomful of school children who will miss her cheery "Goodnight, Children" as school is dismissed for the day.
