(James) Huenemann, age 92, who died Tuesday, August 17, 1999 in Milwaukee, Oregon. The service was at First Congregational Church in Portland, Oregon. Interment will be in Garner, Iowa on October 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Peace Reformed Church and cemetery.
Clara was born December 3, 1906 in Bon Homme County, South Dakota. She taught third grade in Hot Springs, South Dakota for nine years. She married Dr. Ruben Henry Huenemann in 1936. Clara was active with the Foreign Student Center at the University of Minnesota, was an officer in Church Women United and chair of the Residents Council at Willamette View. Clara had been a resident of Portland since 1970.
Clara Huenemann is survived by her husband, Ruben; 2 sons, Robert Huenemann of LaHonda, California and Ralph Huenemann of Victoria, British Columbia, 2 daughters, Carol Eick of Waukon, Iowa and Grace Huenemann-Sher of San Francisco, California, 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
NOTE: The transcriber is not related. However, Ruben Hueneman's parents, at the turn of the century, lived in Waukon, Iowa, in Allamakee County. They were members of the Zion Reformed German Church in Waukon, Iowa. Ruben's father sold his farm and went on to become a minister. Ruben also was a minister and teacher. Ruben was born in 1909 and died December 23, 2003. He is also buried in Hancock County, Iowa. He was a founding President of the United Theological Seminary in New Brighton, Minnesota.
Family researchers of the Huenemann Family might want to refer to IaGenWeb - Allamakee County for additional information regarding Ruben's relatives. There were two first cousins, Gordon Hansmeier and Tom Hansmeier who lived in Waukon, Iowa at the time of her death. In addition, Clara and Ruben's daughter, Carol Eick was living in Waukon.
