Had Been Active in Community Work, Clubs for Many Years

Services for Mrs. Tena S. Healy, 81, former postmistress of Britt, were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 at the Congregational Church, preceded by a prayer service for the family at the Boughton Funeral Home. The Rev. William R. Thomas had charge of the service.

Tena S. Rasmuson was born April 11,1877 to Rasmus & Augusta Clausen-Rasmuson at Britt. She was baptized in infancy & attended the Britt public schools. After graduation from high school in 1895, she attended & graduated from the Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines.

On July 12, 1911, she was united in marriage to Edwin P. Healy, the wedding taking place at Owatonna, Minn. The couple established their home here in Britt, where she has resided since. Their home was broken on Aug. 23, 1934, when her husband passed away.

Mrs. Healy was a member of the Congregational Church & of the Women Fellowship, a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star & was a 50 year member, past president of the Britt Women's Club, past president of the Kings Daughters, a member of the Social Art Club & had been a member of many other organizations of which she took an active part.

During the first World War she was chairman of a division of the American Red Cross in Hancock County & received an award for over 1400 hours of work. She was also chairman of the woman's committee of the 3rd, 4th & 5th Liberty Loan Campaigns. In 1940 she served as a Britt Township Republican committeewoman.

Mrs. Healy was an avid reader & enjoyed business affairs & was known for her keen business judgement. She worked for Rodney Hill as a stenographer & assistant cashier & later as cashier for the Citizens Bank of Britt. She also worked as a secretary & bookkeeper at private firms here. She was secretary of the Hancock County Safety Council for one year & was treasurer of the Iowa Ladies Legislative League from 1921 to 1925. On January 1, 1931 she was appointed postmistress & served in that position until May 25, 1935.

For the past few years, Mrs. Healy has been in failing health. Early Friday morning she quietly slept away at the age of 81 years & 6 months.

Surviving Mrs. Healy is one sister (Emma) Mrs. Fred S. Hill, Oak Park, Ill. & several nieces, nephews & other relatives & friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, William & Louis Rasmuson.

Interment took place in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery.

Tena S. Healy, Retired Britt Postmaster, Dies

Britt - Funeral services for Mrs. Tena S. Healy, 71, a former postmaster here, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Britt Congregational Church. A prayer service for the family will be held at the Boughton Funeral Home preceding the church service. The Rev. William R. Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery here.

Born April 11, 1887, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Rasmussen. She was married to E. T. Healy July 12, 1911. He died Aug 23, 1934. She was a member of the Congregational Church, a charter member and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, past president of the Britt Woman's Club and of King's Daughters. She was postmaster here from 1931 to 1935.

Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Fred S. Hill, Oak Park, Ill.
