Gerhart Lewis Olsen was born Feb. 16, 1899 to Lars Peter and Kathering Olsen at Britt, Iowa.

He attended school and grew to manhood there. He attended Hamilton Business College at Mason City.

He married the former Jeanette Schmock of Waterloo on Dec. 26, 1935. Mr. and Mrs. Olsen lived in Wesley for ten years before moving to California. He was the Electrolux representative for Hancock, Wright and Kossuth counties and was widely known in those vicinities.

Since making his home in San Diego, he has worked for the Rohr Aircraft and the Yellow Cab Company. He was a member of the Iowa State Society and Federated State Society.

He passed away March 19, 1960 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves his wife, Jeanette, a brother, Emmanuel of Britt and several relatives and numerous friends in San Diego and Britt vicinity.

Services were conducted March 22 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. John Jacobsen of Grace Lutheran Church at Cypress View Chapel of Prayer, followed by interment in Cypress View Mausoleum.
