THURSDAY EVENING, OCT. 13, 1949MRS. CM. LAMER, 80, DIES AFTER A BRIEF ILLNESS
Mrs. C. M. Lamer, 80, a resident of Fort Dodge since 1941, died this morning at the home of her son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Gosnell, 216 north Nineteenth street, after a short illness. She had been in failing health for several months but had not been seriously ill. Her death followed a heart attack this morning.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending word from relatives at a distance. The Wilde and Bruce funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Lamer, the former Cora M. Dennis, was born Dec. 19, 1867 at Newton, Ia. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. P Dennis. She attended the Newton schools and following her graduation studied in Newton institute. Later, she taught school for several years. She was married to Mr. Lamer in Newton. He was in the drug business at Goodell Ia., until his death in 1927, and she continued to make her home then for many years. Mrs. Lamer served as Goodell's postmaster for ll years, until she retired at the age of 70 and came to Fort Dodge to make her home with her son-in-law and daughter. She was a member of the Eastern Star sisterhood at Belmond and of the United Brethren church at Goodell.
Surviving her are her daughter, Mrs. Gosnell; two granddaughters, Mrs. John F. Burk of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Harry Powell of Youngstown, Ohio; two nieces and two nephews.
Her husband, her parents and a brother, Ray B. Dennis, who died in 1943, preceded her in death.
