Services held for Emil J. Blumer, 75

Funeral services for Emil J. Blumer, 75, were held Monday, September 18, at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. S. Gale Hawhee, officiating. He died September 15, in the Belmond Hospital. He was born December 23, 1896, in Liberty Township the son of Jacob and Minnie (Joers) Blumer. He was orphaned at a young age and made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Will Kraus.
On July 23, 1918, he was united in marriage to Malinda Riemer at Garner, they farmed in Liberty township until retiring in 1965.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Liberty township and served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for many years before retiring and transfering membership to the United Methodist Church. He was an assessor for many years in Liberty Township and active in community affairs and Farm Bureau.
Survivors are his wife, Malinda, and two daughters, Mrs. Merlin (Marcele) Neuberger, Renwick; and Mrs. Carol (Mildred) Brager, Garner; and six grandchildren, Daryl Brager, Eagle Grove, Marilyn Brager, Garner, Maridee Saunders, Garner, Dean Neuberger, Brad Neuberger, Renwick, and Mrs. Wayne (Marilee Neuberger) Schumway, Warren, Pennsylvania, one brother, Jacob, Garner, two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Baack, Garner, and Mrs. Ester Lemke, Mason City.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, one brother, Walter, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Waddingham and Miss Minnie Blumer and one great granddaughter, Jodi Lynn Brager.
the Rev. Hawhee used as his text I Peter 1:3-9, and his meditation was "As the outcome of your faith you obtain the salvation of your souls."
Comfort in music was the mens quartet, who were accompanied by Mrs. G. W. Templeton, as they sang, "How Great Thou Art," and "Ivory Palaces".
Pallbearers were Curtis Waddingham, Arnette Waddingham, Donald Blumer, Raymond Wille, Robert Baack, and Luverne Schmidt.
He was laid to rest at the Memorial Park cemetery in Mason City. The Bohn Funeral Home in charge.
