SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. LILLIE BAACK

Funeral services were held Monday July 2, at the Immanuel Reformed Church of Christ at Klemme for Mrs. Lillie Baack, 80. Teh Rev. Marvin Lehmann officiated using as his text St. Luke 4:5 and Ephesians 5:16. Comfort in music was by a mixed quartet, Mrs. Gordon Beier, Mrs. Marvin Lehmann, Ronald Barz, and Ray Willie, they sang, "In The Garden," and "How Great thou Art." The organist was Mrs. Harley Neuhring.
Pall bearers were Curtis Waddingham, Luverne Schmidt, Garland Brinkman, Alvin Halverson, Ardell Waddingham and Merlin Brinkman.
She was laid to rest in the Ell Township Cemetery south of Klemme. The Bohn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Baack passed away Thursday morning, June 28, at 10 o'clock in the Belmond Community Hospital following a short illness. She was the daughter of Jacob and Minnie (Joers) Blumer.
She was born April 9, 1893, northeast of Klemme in Liberty township on the original Blumer family farm. She ws baptized by Rev. Gutterman at the Peace Reformed Church and confirmed at the same church by Rev. Muelanhauser.
She was orphaned at an early age but remained with family members during her youthful growing-up-years. She received her early education at the Liberty school. She was employed in her young womanhood as a telephone operator for the Klemme telephone Co.
On September 5, 1912. she ws united in marriage to Herman E. Baack. to this union was born seven children; Mrs, Caris (Ethel) Kropp, Mrs. James(Dorothy) Howie, Paul, Roy, Robert, and Richard, all who reside in this area, however Roy is of the Thornton community. These all survive her, along with 17 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
There was another daughter, Mrs. Edward (Norma) Mauritz, who preceded her in death; along with two sisters, Mrs. Anna Waddingham, Miss Minnie Blumer, two brothers, Walter Blumer, and Emil Blumer preceded her in death as did her husband, Herman.
The Baacks celebrated their 50th (golden) wedding anniversary in September of 1962. She was completely involved with her family and her church. She was a devoted gardner and loved flowers.
In addition to the immediate family who survive, there is one sister (Esther) Mrs. John Lemke, Mason City; and one brother, Jacob Blumer, Garner.
She reached the attained age of 80 years, two months, and 25 days at the time of her daeth.
