Services held for Asa R. Arnold, 65

Funeral services were held for Asa Robert Arnold, 65, Klemme, at 1:30 p.m. Thursday Jan. 2nd. from the United Methodist Church at Klemme, with the Rev. Donald Campbell and the Rev. Earl Josten officiating. Mr. Arnold died Monday, Dec. 30th, at his home in Klemme, apparent from a heart attack.

Comfort in music was supplied by organist, Mrs. Robert Schulz, and singers, Bill Renner and Tom Renner, who sang, "How Great Thou Art," and "My God and I." The pallbearers were; Roy Arnold, Wilbur Arnold, Ronald Gibbs, Willie Irvine, Dr. George Tice, and Elwood Miller. He was laid to rest in the Klemme cemetery, adjacent to Klemme. The Andrew Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Asa Arnold was born January 12, 1909, at Klemme, the son of Fred A. and Clarice (Gibbs) Arnold. At the time of his death, he had reached the attained age of 65 years, eleven months, and two days.

He was reared and educated in Klemme, and was a graduate of the Klemme high school. He attended Drake University, and was graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City.

On March 20, 1943 he was united in marriage to Marion Irvine in Traer, Iowa.

He was employed by the First National Bank at Klemme and served as president for several years. Since January 1974 he has been vice president of the North Iowa State Bank.

Mr. Arnold served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He served on the local school board for several years and was a member of the Hancock County School board. He was also town clerk for several years.

Asa was a member of the United Methodist Church of Klemme, Klemme Lions Club, Klemme Area Development Organization, and the Bethel Lodge No. 319 in Garner.

Survivors include his wife, Marion; five daughters; Mrs. James (Clarice Ann) Hornbacher of Moorehead, Minnesota; Mrs. Don (Marilyn) Latham of Alexander; Mrs. Don (Rosalyn) Fineran of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Noreen Arnold of Egan, Minnesota; and Coreen Arnold of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Jeremy Latham and Erica Hornbacher; one brother Fred, who followed in death later the same day. He was preceded in death by his parents.
