1919-1992Services for Frances E. Brooks, 72, Britt, who died Sunday, May 17, 1992 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, were held Wednesday, May 20, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt with Rev. Marvin Bries and Rev. Charles Miller officiating.
Music was provided by organist, LaRae Hobscheidt, and soloist, Louise Zrostlik. Ushers were Allan Doughan and Michael Kumsher.
Casket bearers were Duaine Nelson, Gerald Vrieze, Ron Brooks, Don Brooks, Larry Fox and Wayne Fox.
Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Frances Elizabeth Brooks, the daughter of Charles and Frances Horback Miller, was born June 18, 1919. She received her education and graduated from Woden High School. She was employed at Olson's Grocery in Hutchins until her marriage.
July 19, 1943, she married Walter Brooks at Britt. The couple made their home on a farm northwest of Britt. Following Walter's death, she moved into Britt. She was employed at Britt Tech and later at the We-3 Inn.
Frances was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons, James Brooks of Garner, Phyllis Smidt and her husband, Warren of Cumberland, WI, Colleen Cameron and her husband, Dale of Loveland, CO, Janice Brooks of Algona, and Dean Brooks and his wife, Linda of Britt; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Anna Stenzel of Wenona, IL, and Cecilia Stiwell of Ottawa, IL; and one brother, Fr. Charles Miller of Metamora, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter, who died August 10, 1975; two sisters; and two grandchildren.
