1908-1997Services for Julia Baumgartner 88, of Garner, who died Sunday, Feb. 2, 1997, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Robert T. Ellis as officiant.
Mrs. Dean Cataldo, organist, will accompany, Warren Torkelson, soloist.
Ushers will be Marvin Schoneman and Maynard Schoneman.
Casket bearers will be grandsons, Calvin A. Baumgartner, Eugene F. Kramer, Allen Baumgartner, James H. Folkerts, Jeffery A. Folkerts, Mark Johnson, Alan Johnson, Bill Zeigler, Mike Hall, Dean Riis and Rick Riis.
Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation will be from 4 -8 p.m., Wednesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.
Julia Ethel Baumgartner, the daughter of William and Katie Levine (Johnson) Noble, was born May 17, 1908 on a farm in Emmons County near Kintyre, N.D. At the age of one, she moved with her family to Garner and where she later attended school. April 9, 1922, she was baptized at the Methodist Church in Garner.
March 5, 1929, she married Clarence M. Baumgartner in Garner. They lived in Garner all of their lives. Julia enjoyed sewing, craft work, quilting and flower gardening.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and U.M.W.
Survivors include one son, Calvin Baumgartner and his wife, Donna of Garner; three daughters, Geraldine Folkerts and her husband, Henry of Britt, Betty Riis and her husband, Doug of Marion, and Joan Hall of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sons-in-law, Denny Johnson of Britt and John Zeigler of, Texas; 29 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence M. Baumgartner in April of 1976; two daughters, Darlene Ziegler in 1970, and Marjorie Johnson in 1996; her parents; seven brothers and one sister, James "Harold" Noble, Cecil Fremont Noble, Albert Clifton Noble, Henry "Ren" Renold Noble, Wilma Clara Noble, Francis Ballou Noble, Charles Levi Noble and William Oliver Noble.
