1929-1999Funeral services for Calvin C. Baumgartner, 69, Garner, who passed away Monday, November 15, 1999 at his home were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 at the United Methodist Church in Garner. Rev. Kay Hooper and Rev. Gary Marzolf were officiants.
Music was provided by organist, Mary Kopacek, who accompanied soloist, Rev. Gary Marzolf. Ushers were Maynard Schoneman and James Gatchel.
Casket bearers were Merle Trousdale, Duane Polsdofer, Al Jenniges, Joe Deibler, Dale Poncin and Bruce Sankey. Gravesite military rites were conducted by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit.
Interment was at Concord Township Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner. Memorials may be directed to the Calvin Baumgartner Memorial Fund.
Calvin Clarence Baumgartner, son of Clarence and Julia (Noble) Baumgartner, was born December 2, 1929 in Mason City. He attended school in Garner.
On September 11, 1967 he was united in marriage to Donna Kramer at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake. Calvin drove truck all of his life until retiring in 1992. He enjoyed his family, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of the Garner VFW and served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of Garner, twelve children: Kris Melin and her husband, Howard, Ocean Springs, MS, Gene Kramer and his wife, Kathy, Lebanon, OH, Diana Tate and her husband, David, Tulsa, OK, Allen Baumgartner and his wife, Nina, Garner, Carol Weidner and her husband, Rick, Omaha, NE, John Kramer, Charles City, Julie Sorenson and her husband, Bradley, Woden, Stacy Burton and her husband, Douglas, Garner, Calvin A. Baumgartner and his wife, Jan, Klemme, Sandy Bailey and her husband, Mike, Kalispel, MT, Peggy Linahon, Mason City, and Mary Jane Gouge and her husband, Steve, Garner; sisters: Geraldine Folkerts and her husband, Henry, Britt, Joan Hall, Myrtle Beach, SC and Betty Riis and her husband, Doug, Marion; twenty-two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Denny Johnson, Britt, and John Zeigler, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Darlene Zeigler and Marjorie Johnson; and his grandson, Steven Kramer.
